Honor and Life
-To the tune of Circle of Life by Sir Elton John-

A brief explanation: This was written by me because I was in a depressive mood, and the radio played Circle of Life which I found most disappropriate at that moment. So I decided to re-write the lyrics to fit my mood. At the same time I had been trying to write a poem for the BOTB, and the two ideas must have mingled because when I finally read it through I found it was a depressive poem about being a part of a thief ring. (If you know the tune, you can even sing it.)

Our lives walk on a path in the darkness
That steadily heads from the sun.
To look back is to see what we might once have been.
We walk away from the light that we shun.

We say if we had chosen
Not forget but instead to forgive
Our lives would be dust; but to say this we must
Forsake all that we used to believe.

For our honor and life
For our minds and souls
We forsake what is right
And live in the wrong
Here we find our place
In the night's dark solace
All that matters is our honor and life.

Some of us came from the wayside.
Some of us fell from the stars.
We all of us hold back our troubles
Hide mental and physical scars.

Was it all really worth all the hardship?
The sorrow the pain and the grief?
To forget not forgive.
Stealing to live.
Was there a choice than the path of a thief?

For our honor and life
For our minds and souls
We forsake what is right
And live in the wrong
Here we find our place
In the night's dark solace
All that matters is our honor and life.
