Pitter-Patter

I stare out of the window
and watch the rain fall down.
Splashing on the glass pane,
and making puddles on the ground.
I watch the river flowing,
gently sweeping through the trees.
There's a boathouse on the bankment.
But the ship is out at sea.

Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: On the lawn.
I loved you and you left me,
left me here to mourn.
Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: Endlessly.
My heart just cries as the day goes by,
Please, come back to me.

I slip into my raincoat.
I step up to the door.
As I open up the garage,
rain spatters on the floor.
I drive out to the cafe
where we used to spend an hour.
It's closed up now, so empty.
The rain makes the world go sour.

Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: On the street.
I wander through the marketplace.
Where we did chance to meet.
Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: Endlessly.
My heart just cries as the day goes by,
Please, come back to me.

I think of going to a movie,
but without you it's not the same.
If you only knew how I felt now;
to you our love was just a game.
I eat lunch at a small bar restaurant.
In a meal I drown the pain.
All I can do is think about you.
And listen to the sound of the rain.

Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: In my soul.
Girl when you went away from my life
you left me a heart-shaped hole.
Pitter-Patter: On the rooftops.
Pitter-Patter: Endlessly.
My heart has died as the days went by.
You didn't come back to me.

I stare out of the window
and watch the rain fall down.
Splashing on the glass pane and
making puddles on the ground.
I watch the river flowing,
gently sweeping through the trees.
There's a boathouse on the bankment.
But the ship is out at sea.
